Built by Fujiwara no Hidehira. Modeled after the famous Phoenix Hall of Byōdōin Temple near Kyoto. After the fall of the Ōshū Fujiwara, Muryōkōin was eventually lost to fire. However, the archeological remains of its buildings and pond remain well preserved.
